Christmas in Portland

I wake up this morning... There are stockings hung up filled with stuff. It looks like it rained a while ago but now the sun is up so all of the colors look alive. It feels more like a spring morning. Merry X-Mas!

Merry December and a Happy January to you all.

I have had an exciting week. I quit my job…because of…fuk that! I interviewed as a graphic designer/ web designer at a place in SE, and I got paid $16/hour to do it. It took me four hours to do some of the stuff they wanted. I’m not sure if I would like the work, but then again it didn’t really feel like work. Now we’re about to have a crap load of folks for x-mas eve and x-mas dinners. I decided that a good way to do this thing would be to have Cornish game hens. Yep…each person is gonna get their own little chicken to devour. It should be good. I QUIT MY FRIGGN JOB!!! Sorry… I’m still a little excited that I don’t have to get up super early on Monday or Tuesday or … Oh yea and Monday Dan and Ashley are gonna be here!!! What a frikn’ week. I wish I could go for a long walk with Dom, Peet, and Otha, something about that chemistry of people just feels right, right now. I miss my friends…. once again Merry December and a Happy January to you all.

Daniel Life Update

So... I just got a call from work. Apparently I am being asked by my supervisor to mutiny. I know the deepest depths of hell are reserved for mutineers. But, I have always wanted to be a part of a huge job quitting. So far the number is up to about 15, including all of the floor supervisors and management personnel... Including the president of the company. Wow the owner must've fuked up bad. I may have a job interview this week doing graphic design and web design so there is a chance that this whole thing is just good timing. I'll try to post more on this later.

Things I've Noticed Today

1) Food poisoning sucks.
2) Watching DVD's one has made of downloaded cartoons rocks.
3) When you vomit and poop out all of your waters you get really bad headaches and muscle pains.
4) Knowing someone who can make magic rehydration potions is a good thing.

Movie night

Well we did it. We had our first official Portland movie night. It went well. We made tacos and watched Mystery Men. We had an attendance of four people not including us. I have an actual pull down style movie screen thing so that was nice. The living room here is a bit smaller than the old place so I imagine we'll have to rethink it a bit when we have greater numbers coming. It wasn't like the old days, but we did stay up til' 2 am talking and hanging out with folks. I had fun, and we got to straighten up our place which is mentally relieving. I'mma go paint a vulture now.

"Tookie"

Yesterday the U.S. government murdered a man. I don't usually acknowledge this sort of thing. However, for some reason this case moved me.

Politicians are just celebrities with shitty day jobs
Pissing on ideals quick as whores give blow-jobs
I right wrongs by taking the time to learn what’s right
Definitions find intentions, that’s intentions plight
The hunt is on with arrows in trail
Friendly fire from the lack of stayed hand
Your highness the running man
Hunting predator with gun in hand
On word could save a man
But chose to kill instead
And now that man is dead
The media will forget his name
But I’ll never forget this day
One less vote to go his way
Five-time nominee for the Noble Peace Prize
Four books to keep children out of gang life
Proven treaties to stop gang fights
Stanley “Tookie” Williams died twelve thirteen ought five

lessee'...

Since last I posted...
I went and saw the new Narnia movie. It was really good. I feel that it is better than the book.
I went to a big ol' party in Washington. Met some nice folks and had a splended time.
I miss being creative. I haven't found the time to put towards painting or working on music. I did start a short story. It's only a page and a half but so far it's not bad. I can't foresee working on it anytime soon, but perhaps someday.
Ilona and I are in a bit of financial trouble. We had some spontaneous car repair issues, and many bills and stuff. We wont really be doing much of an x-mas this year. Few presents but much luv. Probably how it should be anyway.
I found a couple guitar amps for free on the side of the road. I haven't taken the time to test them yet. I figured I would just add them to my sound arsenal (if they work of course). But, now I'm thinking I could sell them if they work. The money would be nice.
By next year at this time this will all be a memory. We will have paid our dues.

The last friggin sick day

Today my backspace key stopped working. You never know how much you use the damn backspace key until it's gone. I called in sick today...Actually this is my third day of calling in sick. I've been getting vertigo spells and nausea, I believe that it is a mild stomach flu. None the less, it's hard to stare at a computer screen when you have vertigo, much less ride a bike. However, I am going to go to work tomorrow. I feel like I have to, damn work ethic. At least I have new fancy bike lights to guide my way in the early morn'.
Missin' friends is getting hard to deal with. I could spend every moment of the week talking to them, it would take that long to call them all, but I get overwhelmed with who to call. So, in my very Daniel way I get distracted and don't end up calling anyone. I wish at least a couple of them would move here so I could have crew to go see cheap movies with. Perhaps after the wedding in July some of yall will get the Portland bug. It really is a great city...especially (no offence intended) when compared to Minneapolis. At least here people don't actively try to run me off of the road. Yes that used to happen in Minneapolis, all the time. Although in reality I don't think they ever saw me...I mean how could they in that big SUV with their cell phone stuck to the side of their drunken heads. And while there are large corporations here like nike and intel, they don't plaster themselves every where like target did to mpls. I guess here the people just feel more human than they did there, not quite as detatched. I'm ranting... I'll stop.
I'mma go pay rent and see a fun $2.00 movie by myself at the nickel arcade.
