I was inspired by hip hop again

I just went to this hip hop show and saw these amazing two ladys perform. I danced a bit and am now sleepy.
http://www.sirensechomusic.com/

These girls are dope live and if you ever get the chance to see them you should!

On another note....Ilona and I both have fancy new cell phones. If you want the numbers email me. Or call our old number and ask us. I sleep now.

The big drink

Last Sunday I found myself on the Pacific Ocean. We went crabbing and deep sea fishing. The winds were strong, the sun was high, and the fish were not biting. We did come home with several crabs. We devoured them in a kingly (and queenly) fashion. They were nummy. The one downside to being out on the Ocean for six hours is that now I am sicker than I was before going. I have a great wife taking care of me and am on the mend. I just really wanted to say....
I WAS OUT ON THE FRIGGN' OCEAN YA'LL!!!

Why was Mort in my head?

I just had a dream that went in reverse. We (Me, a few unknown people, Mort Shuman, some strippers/models, a rich writer) were having Christmas diner at Mort Shuman’s house. Then we were walking up to the house. Mort Shuman was wearing a bathrobe. One of the stripper/models was talking about how fabulous the mansion was and how she wished she owned it. A reality lady came out of nowhere and said it was 4.7 million dollars. I think she was Halle Berry.
Then Mort said to the rich writer, “It’s not all my money or my big house that makes me.”
And right then Mort stops, reaches up in his bathrobe and pulls down leopard print underwear. With his underwear around his knees like a flag he reaches his hand back under his testicals and pulling his hand up triumphantly smelling his fingers he says.
It’s the sweat on my nuts that makes me...Mortimer.”

At this point I woke up, and wished that it was a movie so I could sample it for a Mort Shuman compilation.

Ilona and I spent the majority of yesterday on a rowboat out on Lost Lake. We attempted to catch some fish. It was fun. We both caught fish so big that they snapped thru our lines. And after 5+ hours decided to go make a fire. Ahhh, the good life in the woods.

Well Holy Fiddellyfuk Me!

I just saw an extrodinary performer!!! Baby Gramps! He is like Popeye meets Tom Waits meets Captain Beefheart. Damn it was good. Hunt this man down and watch him and his great band play! He plays with a tap dancing sax player....WTF! Great night for the music.

Oh yea, I got tickets to see the one and only Digital Underground. And yes Shock G aka The Piano Man aka Humpty Hump aka MC Blowfish aka Enafu Washington aka Daniels favorite Hip Hop cat EVER will be there.

MMMMMM....Life, eat it up yum!

weather

The weather is getting back to normal here. However...I need to spend some time doing art. I've been slowly recovering from the wedding. Finally got the house back to a close state of normal. Almost got the attic back together, at least the stereo is hooked up again. Now I just need to get my ass up there and paint.
Ilona and I went on a picnic yesterday at a pick your own fruit farm. We sat beneith a pear tree and ate yummies while Mount Hood watched over us. It was very nice.

Truckin' Spam

I just got hit with about 120 spam comments spread out thru my blog. I don't have the energy now to go through and delet them....some day I will have them gone, slow but sure, one by one they shall fall!

OH YEAH!

I could go for a glass of icey Kool-Aid right now. It's friggn hot! 103 degrees!
For those not in the know...
Ilona and I got married on Sunday the 16th. It was a great time. We had an excellent mariachi band, yummy food and the best company one could ask for. The following monday we had near 40 poeple over at our house for brunch. Life is full and good. My only complaint about the whole thing is that my friend Dom did not show up. I am sad about that. I am sorry you could not be there Dom.
The last of our 10 house guests left today. I hope people had fun in my new city. I wish I could move everyone I love here...but I know that is not possible.
I listened to the latest 2 Puke Mountain cd's today. I really liked them. It was the perfect soundtrack to my day.
I purchased a cd of an old friend (Carissa), who happens to be in a group called "The God Damn Doo Wap Band". I am so happy that I am getting this cd! I can't wait to hear the whole thing.
I'm sure that there is a lot of other stuff I should write here....My brain is at a slow simmer.

Car Insurance

The National Insurance Crime Bureau say's that 6 of the top 10 car theft locations are in friggn California! Wow! Actually, I'm not surprized. Cali has some messed up spots.
GEICO has some advice...
1) Lock your car....All windows, sunroof, all the doors. Even while driving! Even if it's hot and you are made of plastic!
2)Don't leave your keys in the car!
3)Park where it's bright and busy. I guess theives prefer dark isolated places where they can't be watched....Who'd a thunk it?
4) Don't leave anything of value in your car. So much for that diamond and gold shift knob!
5) Put an alarm/ anti theft system in your car.
6) I guess there is a bump-and-rob technique that car jackers use. They bump your car and when you get out to see the damage they steal it.... Well, avoid it.
7) Don't leave registration or title in the car. Or if you have to....Hide it.
8) Be aware of your surroundings....Ninja style.
9) Don't go to bad areas. You don't know the meadow, you ain't ever been to the meadow....stay the frick outta the meadow!
10) If you are getting jacked....Get jacked! Let them have the car.
11) Have your car's VIN # etched on all of the windows.

Compare car insurance and save some money....Pretty funny coming from a guy with no license.

Long time...

If anyone has not seen V for Vendetta.....Go see it.
Ilona has been out of town for her Grandma's funeral since last thursday....I miss her. Time moves more slowly without her here.
I got a big ol' epson 2200 printer....I got it and it was busted! I'm a bit disappointed by this.
I may need to start posting blog entries for money again. So if you see a slew of them on here I apologize.....money is rent and food.

Charlie and I primed a wall yesterday for a mural project. I busted a huge roller piece on the back of the building, it was fun.

Wedding is in a little over a month. It will be cool to use the word wife.

Toy show

This should be good times!

Tuesday, March 21, 2006

wowowowowowowow

So...I"ve been painting...lots. I am working on about 50 toys, and 20 paintings. Unfortunatly I am also doing web design (gotta earn $$$). I wish more of my time could go towards this toy thing. I have a show in april and need to turn all of my stuff in by the 3rd. I'm trying to work fast without comprimising quality. My stuff is pretty good though. At least compared to alot of the customs I've seen. The show should be good. Oh yea and the wedding has changed! It will be in Silverdale OR on the 16th....Long story, If ya gotta know just call us. We sent out new save the date cards already. So...yeah, don't worry it's gonna be good. Now if only I could get rid of this damn cough.

Toys.

Tonight Charlie and I went to this toy store on Belmont. It's a toy store very much like Kid Robot, with all of the trendy little graf toys and such. Well, tonight I am painting three toys for a guy who is thinking of starting his own toy making business and is looking for designers and artist. I AM PAINTING ON TOYS! I may have a distant opportunity to design toys. This is a dream...
Thanks Charlie!

Big ol' Post day

Many posts today. This is that kind of day I guess. I rearranged the office so Ilona could be by the heater. Now I think I'll have to start working with my blanket around me. It's amazing how warm it is on that side of the room and how cold it is on this side. At least I'm not commiting suicide with Airsoft Guns (yes plural). I applied for a new job today. Part time doing printing. I figure I've never done that kind of work and may really like it. Worth a shot.

ouch

So Ilona and I both have commercial office chairs and even with that I can't sit for to long otherwise my back hurts. Perhaps I need a better chair....or maybe I just need to not sit as much. I think I'm gonna go outside now.

put me on the market

I think I need to learn how to manage money better. I want so many things out of life but it feels like money is the most draining thing ever. Currently I'm going thru a bit of a creative sweep. Paint Paint Paint. Painting has very little to do with stock option investing.

Car stuff

I recently paid for the cars insurance and now i get to post a link for car insurance quotes. Funny how the world works. I think I'm gonna read some Nick Bantock soon.

Over the bridge and thru the city...

Dont forget the mother's day flowers while your walking to her house to give her a hug...or else bad boogie things will get you.

New Paintings By Daniel Damocles Wall

I have just finished updating my website to include some of my paintings from 2005 and 2006. There are at least 27 new pieces up. Please have a look and feel free to send me comments. Some art is still available for purchase and as always I am open to doing paintings on commission.

I may also be available to do web design/graphic design or illustration work if you need it.

(Go to the Illustration section there you will find two new categories in paintings 2005 & 2006)

Yep, I copy pasted that... And?

PETER H QUIST

Will some one please castrate Peets pooperhole. I'm not sure how a procedure like this is done, but I am confident that my creative friends back in the Minny Apple could figure it out. See here's the deal I warned Peet on his blog that if he did not start writing in it again on a regular basis I would try to have someone castrate his pooperhole. This is for all of our own good(s) . Remember how much reading Peets blog made you smile? Remember the warmth found within those great new words and the ways that they were arranged? Remember how disappointing it is to go to see if he posted anything new and you just see the same damn thing...everyday? It's like Christmas in a workcamp with nothing but memories of gifts...Now it's just a stale piece of bread and rust water from a puddle in the floor followed by an ass pounding. Well now it's your turn Peet! You called down the thunder, well now you got it. Post or be asscastrated!
I'm only doing this out of my deep love of reading Mr. Quist's words.
Commence to commencin'.

ToneControls.com

The time has come!
I am now accepting input on the content and look and feel of the new Tone Controls site. Any ideas on functionality are welcome. I am expecting to be selling ToneControls CD's and maybe other miscellaneous stuff. I also want to use part of the site as a web playground for experimenting. This is a call to the crew!!! And anyone else who wishes to help out!
Send me images, thoughts, links, writings, or anything that you feel may contribute.

My Space is where I am when I'm there...or here?

I decided to continue to try and post on this blog instead of MySpace. I will maintain my MySpace account and you can go there and if you are signed up make me your friend...That would be fancy. But I have to much on my plate to maintain two blogs.
Sarah sent me the best email. Thank you Sarah hed. I really hope it works out!
We just got back from one of our clients and have a little bit of duckets to show for our hard work...It feels good. Tomorrow we meet with a new client do create their logo. This particular client is the ex-president of the company I recently quit from. He is starting his own new company. It's still so cool to me the way the world works. If this keeps up BigWhistleStudios will be officially a company within the year. Wouldn't that be fun.

my space

I started a My Space account recently to better keep in touch with people. Here is my address:
http://www.myspace.com/bigwhistlestudios
Check it out. A lot of folks I know are up on there...Perhaps yall know them too. I will try to still post on here but it may not be as often. It's hard to post on two blogs.

Ahh Saturday

Isaac recently went to China. He returned around Tuesday sometime. I just saw him and his brother for the first time since before he left. He got me a present from his trip. I now own the live action version of Devil Man! For those of you who don't know Devil Man is an old Japanese cartoon about people and demons and possession and violence and crazy fun stuff. Well the live action version is in Japanese with the option of Chinese subtitles so I can't understand it. But, I put it on in the background and sorta watched most of it any ways. Mediocre CG & effects. Probably not worth hunting down...Unless you are a fan of the cartoon and want to see how they made it all look. I mean well... It's better than suffering from accutane side effects, which looks like what some of the demons in the movie are doing. I still enjoyed it even though I don't know what they're saying...I got to see friggn' Devil Man fighting with cheese demon characters! Plus it was a fitting gift and that makes me fell more understood...I really like that.

OH YEA!

Ilona and I We're talking about life last night and made a great discovery. For the first time in either of our lives we are making a living....I mean all of our income is coming from creative ventures. WOW! That's friggn awesome.

Posts

Sorry about the barrage of posts. My blog link posting gig requires a separate post and paragraph for each link now. Ahh well, just more to be creative about. Plus this helps to relate some more obscure thoughts to you all thru this blog thingamajig.

Legaleeze

Those of you who know me know I don't deal well with tax forms and other items of paper that involve legaleeze (the language of law). Reading or otherwise dealing with these documents makes me sleepy. I need to perhaps find some kind of vioxx lawyer (vioxx is a painkiller that has a recall going on) to fight for me in this world of dollars and forms. The reason this is on my mind is due to the large amount of contract work I've participated in latly. I mean really, how much of everything is deductable?

Heavy Metals

So I've been thinking of how to get this ring fixed. According to the silver market, platinum is up by like 12+%. OUCH! I'm just gonna have to go hunting for jewelery places and ask questions. Also the ring is some kind of antique so I don't know if beefing it up and getting it sized will affect its value... Although that does'nt matter to me really I guess....It's not like I'm gonna try and sell it ever.

Jewelry

I have a very special ring that my father gave to my mother. It is platinum with a diamond. I don't know what the setting is. My mom loved this ring. In fact she wore it so much that the band is thin at the back. I need to find a place that can not only size it for my girl, but also beef up the band. I don't know if I should look at a place that sells diamond stud earrings or a jewelry repair place. I don't really have the funds to drop on it but I need to do something before July.

Marketing insight

If you were ever curious about Search Engine Marketing you could look into companies like usweb.com. They company that funds my internet purchasing with blog links. Blog links are found by the fancy lil' googlebot. See google's search engine is populated by the googlebots who look for links instead of content. The more links that go to your site the higher you are on the google list...At least I think that's how it works.

The rain in Spain...I'm in Portland.

We've been working on Ideas for our wedding invites but with our freelance gig coming to a climax(meaning lots of work), plus or regular other jobs, we haven't had much time. Drawings of flowers are sort of a concept we've been playing with. Ilona has a thing for gardenias.
Once upon a time there was a man and a woman. The man went and got the woman some valentines day flowers and they did it...They humped. Then around November the woman gave birth to a baby boy. I could go into detail about how the boy was to large to exit the small woman...But that doesn't seem necessary.

70 degrees and sunny

OH MY GAWD THIS PLACE IS BEAUTIFUL!!! I'm near San Diago and the weather is of course perfect. I luv the weather in souther cali but not the social climate type stuff. I don't know if I can explain it well...The environment has a similar thing Minneapolis had for me...It makes me feel kind of trapped and closed in. But DAMN the weather is nice. Hello all from Sothern Cali!

Thursday, January 05, 2006

So Isaac and I went to this comic geek get together last night. It was fun. A lot of folks who create comics more than a lot of folks who are just fans. Half a house full of comic artists and writers... It was almost like being in Minneapolis. But with out knowing anyone there except Isaac. Anyway, Otha, Dom perhaps if either of you make it out this way we could partake of the adventure together... With Isaac of course. So yall better hurry cause he's moving to China at the end of summer.
I leave on an air-o-plane in about an hour to fly to luv-ly southern cali to participate in the celebrations of Ilona's grammses birfday party. It should be fun. I 'm considering telling a dirty joke to her...Not pig in the mud dirty but SUNDAY DIRTY.
Oh and I'm leaving my computer at home...FREEDOM!!!
See ya'

Did it!

I did it... I striped our poor x-mas tree naked. I cut off all of its branches. I'm thinking about morphing it into some sort of earthly coat rack. I just couldn't throw it away...Not after all of the humiliation it suffered. Besides it's a cheap fun project.
Oh, I've also been doing web design at a place for about a week now. It's part time contract work but it may turn out to be something good. In case yall hadn't heard, I quit my job at TIS. No more arrow keys for this guy. Not for 8 hours in a friggin row anyway. Now I hit many keys... and I get to even use a mouse. I need to call Keegs...Because out of all the people I know he's the one who can sympathize the most with how I feel about web design. I miss ready access to friends. But then again it was like 50 degrees here today...and it was lovely. It's a hard trade off but aside from the financial stress right now I am very happy and sane. Both things I dig have'n in myself.
The rain on my head is a baptism.
Oh yea' I rode the bus finally! They still use those old paper transfers here. And the fare doesn't change depending on the time of day. I live 5 to 20 minutes from a $2 theater depending on when the bus comes. And the theater happens to be the same place as the arcade with crazy Japanese import video games that only cost a nickel! Damn this city is good for me.

Christmas in Portland

I wake up this morning... There are stockings hung up filled with stuff. It looks like it rained a while ago but now the sun is up so all of the colors look alive. It feels more like a spring morning. Merry X-Mas!

Merry December and a Happy January to you all.

I have had an exciting week. I quit my job…because of…fuk that! I interviewed as a graphic designer/ web designer at a place in SE, and I got paid $16/hour to do it. It took me four hours to do some of the stuff they wanted. I’m not sure if I would like the work, but then again it didn’t really feel like work. Now we’re about to have a crap load of folks for x-mas eve and x-mas dinners. I decided that a good way to do this thing would be to have Cornish game hens. Yep…each person is gonna get their own little chicken to devour. It should be good. I QUIT MY FRIGGN JOB!!! Sorry… I’m still a little excited that I don’t have to get up super early on Monday or Tuesday or … Oh yea and Monday Dan and Ashley are gonna be here!!! What a frikn’ week. I wish I could go for a long walk with Dom, Peet, and Otha, something about that chemistry of people just feels right, right now. I miss my friends…. once again Merry December and a Happy January to you all.

Daniel Life Update

So... I just got a call from work. Apparently I am being asked by my supervisor to mutiny. I know the deepest depths of hell are reserved for mutineers. But, I have always wanted to be a part of a huge job quitting. So far the number is up to about 15, including all of the floor supervisors and management personnel... Including the president of the company. Wow the owner must've fuked up bad. I may have a job interview this week doing graphic design and web design so there is a chance that this whole thing is just good timing. I'll try to post more on this later.

Things I've Noticed Today

1) Food poisoning sucks.
2) Watching DVD's one has made of downloaded cartoons rocks.
3) When you vomit and poop out all of your waters you get really bad headaches and muscle pains.
4) Knowing someone who can make magic rehydration potions is a good thing.
